This month, we will be discussing our TWO book selections on the cozy couches of Yum-Beri! We will be meeting:
Thursday, May 26 at 7:30 p.m.
We will be discussing:
The Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan and The Jungle by Upton Sinclair.
You can read one or both. Even if you choose to read neither, the frozen yogurt will still be delicious and we'd love to see you all there!
P.S. I won't have time to read the books, but I plan on watching Food, Inc. which has similar subject matter and is available to watch instantly on Netflix.

April Book Club Selection
Our April book club selection is O Pioneers! by Willa Cather.
Christa Collins is hosting in her home at 7:15 p.m. on April 28th, 2011. The reason I bumped the time up a little is that the gates to her home close at 7:30. I think anyway? Chris, can you confirm this with me by email? I will update the blog if people need to arrive earlier. If anyone has a problem coming a little early let me know.
Would anyone like to volunteer for questions and author bio?
We also need volunteers for the rest of the year. On the sidebar are the current book club selections. We do have some volunteers already and I will add those ASAP.
Thanks!

Reading Schedule For 2011
Hi Everyone! In FEBRUARY we are currently reading Moloka'i by Alan Brennert. I am about halfway through and it is great so far! I will post more details on when and where book club is held at a later date.I think right now it is scheduled for February 24th.
Thank you to everyone who came to January's meet up! We decided that we would just read every suggestion on the list. There were 9 suggestions so it worked out perfectly! Obviously, we are flexible and can change any suggestions if someone changes their mind. But, it just seemed easy this way. Below is the list of books for the next nine consecutive months. On one of the months we decided to read two books together. Some did not have any interest in reading The Omnivore's Dilemma while others very much wanted to do so. Jordan suggested a book about the meat packing industry that would go very nicely with the discussion for BOTH books. So we are reading The Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan and The Jungle by Upton Sinclair. Everyone can just choose which one they would like to read and we will discuss both. I think that month will be a great discussion and it should work out as the topic is similar.
I will be working this week to get them on the sidebar for permanent viewing. Let me know if you have questions! I can be emailed at lesliehatch@gmail.com
2011 Reading List Schedule

May The Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan OR The Jungle by Upton Sinclair (Choose only one, unless you're ambitious and want to read both.)

July A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith
August Enna Burning by Shannon Hale
September A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini
October Uncle Tom's Cabin by Harriet Beecher Stowe

EDITED TO ADD: We need volunteers to host, do author bios, and discussion questions. Please leave a comment and volunteer for which month you'd like to do any of those three things. I will post the results on the sidebar as they come. Thanks!
