March Book Club

February Meet Up Information
Sorry it has taken me so long to post this! February's book club sort of snuck up on me. The book selection for this month is Moloka'i by Alan Brennert. Reading Schedule For 2011
Hi Everyone! In FEBRUARY we are currently reading Moloka'i by Alan Brennert. I am about halfway through and it is great so far! I will post more details on when and where book club is held at a later date.I think right now it is scheduled for February 24th.
Thank you to everyone who came to January's meet up! We decided that we would just read every suggestion on the list. There were 9 suggestions so it worked out perfectly! Obviously, we are flexible and can change any suggestions if someone changes their mind. But, it just seemed easy this way. Below is the list of books for the next nine consecutive months. On one of the months we decided to read two books together. Some did not have any interest in reading The Omnivore's Dilemma while others very much wanted to do so. Jordan suggested a book about the meat packing industry that would go very nicely with the discussion for BOTH books. So we are reading The Omnivore's Dilemma by Michael Pollan and The Jungle by Upton Sinclair. Everyone can just choose which one they would like to read and we will discuss both. I think that month will be a great discussion and it should work out as the topic is similar.
I will be working this week to get them on the sidebar for permanent viewing. Let me know if you have questions! I can be emailed at lesliehatch@gmail.com

Questions: The Forgotten Garden
Last night was great, we missed a few of you. It was a very interesting discussion. We have decided to share the questions for those of you unable to attend.
1. On the night of her twenty-first birthday, Nell's father, Hugh, tells her a secret that shatters her sense of self. How important is a strong sense of identity to a person's life? Was Hugh right to tell her about her past? How might Nell's life have turned out differently had she not discovered the truth?

Suggestions Please!
Hi Everyone!
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. Book club is starting back up on January 27th! This month we are reading The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton. Book club will be held at the home of Leslie Hatch at 7:30 PM.
We are also voting on book club selections for the rest of the year. I do believe we have books chosen through February. We need to decide what we are reading after that so I will be compiling a list of suggestions.
THIS IS WHERE YOU COME IN! I need suggestions! I have only received confirmation that people liked my suggestions. Please please comment on this post and suggest books so we have SOMETHING to vote on. If you look over on the sidebar there is currently a list of books- but I think we should have more. We need to be well rounded this year! I'll leave suggestions in the comments and I'll also be looking for your suggestions as well. When we meet on January 27th at my house I will hand out the list to all of you and we can then decide.

See you in January!
Our book club last week was a great success. Thank you Cerise for having it in your home! We won't be reading a book until January so you won't see an update until closer to that time. Book club in January is scheduled to be at my house. You can view the book we are reading on the sidebar. There is a link and everything!
We do need suggestions. In January we will be discussing which books to read for the rest of the year. I am going to prepare a list with a small description underneath.
Please leave a comment and suggest something! We would like to have a wider variety this year. Hopefully we can alternate between heavier reading and lighter/fun reading.
Can't wait to see what everyone suggests. See you in January!
